Dr Ayalkibet Tesfaye

Overview

Biography Ayalkibet B. Tesfaye obtained his PhD from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. His doctorate focused on: “Migration: Challenges and Experiences of the Ethiopian Diaspora in the city of Johannesburg (2000-2015) and the role of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church’s Ministry”. Ayalkibet’s work experience highlights matters related to social, pastoral, community development activities including HIV and AIDS prevention and counselling, and women empowerment. He was awarded the World Council of Churches doctoral scholarship for his research towards a PhD studies in Sociology. Currently, he is a postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Sociology at the University of Johannesburg. His current research interest includes Ethiopian migration to South Africa, their cultural trait, and social integration.
