Michael Vlerick obtained his PhD in philosophy at Stellenbosch University in 2012. His dissertation is situated in the area of evolutionary epistemology, gauging the scope, status and limits of human knowledge, given the fact that the human perceptual and cognitive apparatus are shaped by an evolutionary process. His current project at UJ under the supervision of Prof. Alex Broadbent is on issues in evolutionary epistemology, evolutionary morality, and social ontology in particular, and the philosophical implications of the theory of evolution in general.
