Dr Denyse Webbstock has been the Senior Director: Institutional Planning, Evaluation and Monitoring at the University of Johannesburg (DIPEM) since 2019. DIPEM is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the University’s performance through Annual Performance Plans and the Strategic Plan; for enrolment planning; for institutional research including student experience surveys; for the University’s submissions to international rankings agencies; and for data governance and high-level data analysis for executive-level decision-making. Her research interests include leadership in higher education, institutional autonomy and the South African higher education system in general. She was previously Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Council on Higher Education (CHE) where she was responsible for the CHE’s publications, including Higher Education Reviewed: Two Decades of Democracy (2016), Reflections of South African University Leaders, 1981-2014 (2016), a number of issues of the CHE’s scholarly journal Kagisano and of series including BrieflySpeaking, VitalStats and the Higher Education Monitor. She has a Postgraduate Diploma in International Relations from the University of Amsterdam and a PhD in Policy Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
