Qualification(s) MTRP (University of Pretoria) Research Interests Place Branding, Township Economies, Informal Economics, Metropolitan Planning, Urban Design Biography Zenzile Mbinza's training is that of an urban planner and his experience ranges from land use management, the formulation of Spatial Development Frameworks, the reviewing and formulation of Integrated Development Plans and Local Economic Development particularly at the scale of metropolitan planning. He also has vast experience in settlement rehabilitation and upgrading. He is currently an academic member of staff at the University of Johannesburg in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning. In this space his work mainly centres on teaching and learning as well as research. His research interests include place-branding , the disambiguation of township spaces, place-making, strategic spatial planning, understanding and responding to the informal economy, metropolitan planning, and regional economic analysis.
