He was a University Research Committee (URC) post-doctoral fellow during 2019-2022 at the University of Johannesburg. He obtained his Doctorate from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur and a Master in Technology (Research) degree from the National Institute of Technology Rourkela. He was also a visiting doctoral research fellow at Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM), Deakin University, Australia from 2016-2017. He has published 27 journal articles in international journals. Dr. Kumar also worked as a project assistant in a consultancy project of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in the field of fatigue and fracture mechanics. Dr. Kumar’s area of expertise is thermomechanical properties of materials, fatigue/fracture mechanics and materials characterization. He also supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students at Department of Metallurgy, University of Johannesburg.
