Maria is a lecturer in the Faculty of Education at the University of Johannesburg. For the past ten years, he has taught various modules in the Department of Childhood Education. Before transitioning to academia, she spent twenty years teaching at various public and independent primary schools. She began her teaching profession after acquiring a Junior Primary Teacher’s Diploma from Soweto College of Education followed by an Advanced Education Certificate from Witwatersrand University. She went on to obtain Honours and Master’s degrees from the same university. In 2024, she acquired her PhD from the University of Johannesburg.
