Forbes joined the University of Johannesburg in 2008, and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Technology. Before joining the University of Johannesburg, Forbes worked in Zimbabwe at Zimbabwe Iron and Steel Company, The Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre, UNIDO, National Printing and Packaging and at Harare Institute of Technology.
