Dr Nkhenso Sibuyi is Acting Executive Director of the Library and Information Centre (LIC) at the University of Johannesburg. He holds a DTech in Informatics (Cape Peninsula University of Technology), an MPH in Medical Informatics (University of South Africa), and an MBA with a Digital Transformation Lens (Johannesburg Business School). He centres his leadership on the idea that librarians are third space professionals - bridging academia, technology, and community. He leads UJ Library’s Digital Scholarship Sphere, supporting academic staff, postgraduate students, and researchers in the ethical integration of digital tools and methodologies for teaching, learning, and knowledge creation. With more than 12 years of senior leadership in digital innovation across higher education, public health, and business, he brings a cross-sectoral perspective to advance the Library’s strategic contribution to the UJ Strategic Plan 2035. He has also served as a Digital Transformation Coach at the Centre for Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators (CeSTII), Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), among other advisory roles.
