Francis Onditi is Associate Professor of Structural Conflictology & Head of Department, School of International Relations and Diplomacy, Riara University, Nairobi, Kenya. In 2019 Prof. Onditi was awarded the prestigious AISA Fellowship by South Africa’s Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC). In 2022, he was ranked among the World’s Top 2% scientists/researchers of the year listed by the Stanford University, USA. Having authored and edited 7 major volumes and over 100 articles and book chapters, in 2023, he was awarded the Erasmus Mundus Global teaching fellowship at Leipzig University, Germany. He is a member of the Editorial Board, Alternatives: Global, Local, Political (Sage). At the beginning of his research career, he received a number of recognitions/Awards including the ‘Best Researcher Award’ by the Young Scientist Award. An authority on the geography of African conflicts and their evolutionary nature, Prof. Onditi is the Founding Principal Investigator in the Conflictology Lab- testing theories with empirical data, modelling solutions to conflict situations and conducting quasi-experimental and longitudinal studies on the question of ‘ Closeness Centrality’ and the geometry of social network in the evolution of conflict in the society.
