Research Interest His research interest are in solid waste valorization and remedial treatment of waste water through adsorption and reduction crystallization together with the extensive use of data science techniques to enhance data mining from experimental results. Academic Profile Prof Thabo Falayi is a is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering Technology at the University of Johannesburg. He has an extensive teaching experience in the Higher education sector in a number of Southern African countries. He is a fellow of the African Science Leadership Program (2022-2023). Prof. Falayi has authored over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters. Biography Prof Falayi graduated with a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Johannesburg (UJ). His PhD was an interdisciplinary environmental engineering research. He has over 10 years industrial experience in pharmaceutical, refinery and smelting industries. He started his career in higher education as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow (PDRF) at UJ. He has taught Chemical Engineering at the Malawi University of Science and Technology and the Namibia University of Science and Technology. He joined UJ as an Associate Professor in August 2025.
