Dr Yu-Shan Wu is a Senior Researcher with the SARChI Chair: African Diplomacy and Foreign Policy at the University of Johannesburg. She has 15 years' experience in academia, research, and think tanks, and holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Pretoria. Her current research interests include Global South perspectives on global order, ocean regions and imaginings, public diplomacy, and Asia-Africa relations. She guest-edited a special issue of the South African Journal of International Affairs (SAJIA) titled The BRICS Expanded: Shaped by – or Shaping – the Global Order? and is a co-author of a forthcoming Palgrave publication on the Global South and world politics (2026). She is also part of the British Academy’s convening programme on Chinese global orders.
